While walking through the Village this week it’s been great hearing all the different accents and languages – Whistler is rocking with visitors and has truly become an international destination in both summer and winter now!
Crankworx, Whistler’s ultimate mountain bike festival is in full swing this week with so many great events! Take in the Dual Slalom where riders go head to head down the course on Friday. Saturday evening the Red Bull Joy Ride caps off the week – the riders in this event are beyond fearless as they show off their skills in the Boneyard!
For the first time in a long time the Whistler market is paralleling the Lower Mainland market. From my perspective it seems like we are returning to a more balanced market similar to 2015/2016, although we still have a limited amount of inventory in preferred locations with desired amenities. It’s become clear to me that mortgage rules and potential interest rate hikes are affecting buyer sentiment. Currency values remain a positive factor for our resort visitors, which should continue to help us with resort visitation through the summer. I expect that visitor numbers will continue to be at an all time high throughout the winter too as guests see the value in Whistler, which is great all around for businesses in the resort.
